Yachting has evolved into one of the most epic luxuries every visitor and resident of Dubai looks forward to experiencing. The beautiful height, scenic view, clear water, and lively surroundings make it ideal for tourists wishing to have an enthralling cruise. Whether you are going to charter a yacht for a celebratory event or for a friendly gathering with friends, it’s useful to familiarize yourself with some general rules bearing to yachting etiquette. In this blog, we will know about all the dos and don’ts of yachting. So, if you are looking forward to getting a yacht charter in Dubai, then read on!

Dos of Yachting Etiquette

  • Respect the crew and captain

The crew and captain included do work hard, and they make you comfortable and safe, thus the essence of sticking to their professional advice. For any given advice, they have to always follow the yachts, especially on the safety measures like when and how to wear life jackets or how to move inside the yacht. I don’t really know what you do if you have a question about any of this; they seem to be very willing to help.

  • Wear appropriate attire

Despite the fact that yachting is all about glamour, people should appropriately dress to fit the event. Free-moving and light fabrics such as dresses, trousers, and shorts for women and men, respectively, plus soft flooring for shoes like sandals. There is strictly no shoe allowed on most yachts; hence, many people move around the deck area barefoot or in non-slip socks to minimize tripping on the surface.

  • Pack essentials

There is usually interaction with the sun during the day on a yacht, so some things to carry include sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and water bottles. As the adage goes, it is always good to be prepared more than expected, or, as the saying goes, better prepared than sorry. Food and drinks, especially drinking water, may be offered onboard many yachts, but it is best to consult the charter company about what more is needed.

  • Follow the yacht’s rules

Every yacht has its own code of conduct based on acceptable behavior, smoking, alcohol rules, and others concerning the usage of items within the yachts. It is important that you acquaint yourself with as many of these rules as possible and that you adhere to each of them to the latter. For instance, some yachts may prohibit fishing, swimming, or even taking pets along with one on the yacht, among others.

  • Tip the crew

In Dubai, it is expected that the crew be paid through tips that are often between 10-15% of the charter’s cost. A crew that has worked hard in order to ensure you have a good time should be rewarded with a sizable gratuity.

Don’ts of Yachting Etiquette

  • Don’t ignore safety protocols

Safety is a fact that anybody who starts on a yacht should make sure to follow. Make sure you do not endanger yourself by climbing over rails, running on the deck, or consuming alcohol, which leads to impaired judgment. Failing to adhere to safety regulations does not only put your life in peril but that of the other passengers and crew.

  • Don’t overpack

However, as pointed out earlier, space on a yacht is limited. Carrying tender items and lots of luggage makes it difficult to move around freely; if you are in doubt, call the charter company.

  • Don’t be late

As mentioned earlier, people use yachts by schedule, and therefore getting late means that the schedule of the yacht will be altered. Be as punctual as possible when approaching the yacht and be observant of time to avoid protraction of the usual times.

  • Don’t overindulge in alcohol

It is not wrong to take a couple of beers on board as you enjoy your yacht, but it is unsafe and can cause you to take too many. Often, do not forget to drink according to the code of the alcoholic beverage, and one should not forget to drink water regularly. It is possible that getting completely drunk will limit the perception of the overall pleasure, and for the crew and other guests, it may indeed be a problem.

Conclusion

Yachting in Dubai can be an unforgettable experience if only certain rules and regulations are respected. If you follow these general rules—that is, show respect to the crew, be always careful, and take care of the yacht—you and your friends will have great times that you will not want to forget. Get out on the water and be overwhelmed by what the seas of Dubai bring to shore!
